Disability weightlifters depart for Hungary

TEHRAN, Nov. 22 (MNA) – Three-strong Iranian disability weightlifter national team has flown to Hungary to participate in Eger 2015 IPC Powerlifting European Open Championships, November 24-28.

The competitions will determine the Rio 2016 Paralympic entering standard record; in case these three weightlifters succeed in hitting the record, will represent Iran in the Paralympic games.

Seyed Alireza Hosseini, Head of Iranian Weightlifters Association for Disabled told reporters on Sunday that the three-strong team had failed in hitting entry-level records in February 2015; “however, they are resolved through hard work and hectic plans of preparation, and will seek success in Hungarian para-sport competitions which is the last such competitions which provides gates for Paralympics,” he added.

“Their success will guarantee a place for them in a different competition setting entry record for Paralympics elsewhere,” Hosseini told the press. Iran’s three-strong disability team included Mansour Pourmirzaei, Ali Hosseini, and Hamzeh Mohammadi, and Alireza Hosseini leads the delegation which left Tehran for Budapest early hours of Sunday.
